Advantages of the Arno Profile System
HOW IT WORKS:
I will administer a questionnaire, of 54 questions, which takes fewer than ten minutes for the counselee to complete. The questionnaire measures the counselee's needs, natural traits, strengths, and weaknesses according to temperament. These are identified in the computerized Arno Profile System report (APS). The report will provide us with in-depth information and the best way to go about counseling you as an individual. The system enables a qualified counselor to identify the counselee's temperament problem, faster and with great accuracy.
The APS does not measure a person's behavior. It identifies a person's inborn TEMPERAMENT. We will learn together whom God created you to be, which is temperament, and whom you have became, this is our learned behavior. These two can be vastly different and it is from these differences that great personal conflict can occur. We need to find out who we really are and find ways to become the person God wants us to become. Christ centered counseling with the Word of God and the APS report, can help a client begin to understand the strengths God has given them, their needs specific to their unique temperament, and who they are in Christ, in order to help them overcome their temperament weaknesses. The temperament identification provided in the APS report identifies three separate human interactions; Inclusion (social orientation/intellectual energies), Control (decision making abilities or inabilities) and Affection (interaction in deep relationships). It also identifies each one of these interactions in two ways, expressed (what we say we want) and wanted (what we really want).
There are five temperaments, Melancholy, Sanguine, Choleric, Supine and Phlegmatic. In 1981, Drs. Richard and Phyllis Arno established the N.C.C.A. and began seven years of research, with more than 5,000 individuals in the counseling setting. Their purpose was to develop a therapeutic procedure based on scripture. It is this therapeutic model that will be used during our time together. By using the Arno Profile system we can quickly identify problem areas and address your unique needs. This has many advantages, the first is, it saves a great amount of time in the counseling office. Secondly there is a huge cost savings. Fewer sessions equal less expense.
After administering the APS, I will process the responses and we will receive a seven to eight page computer analysis. Four different types of reports can be provided: Clinical, Personal, Personnel, or Youth. As a Licensed Pastoral Counselor, specifically trained by the NCCA, I am qualified to utilize the APS technique. This form of counseling has been found to have more than a 90% success rate. Thousands of lay counselors, professional counselors, pastors, and pastoral counselors throughout the United States and in nine foreign countries are currently using the A.P.S
